Perry's Story

Everyone’s path is different and Perry certainly likes to take the road less traveled. The third of five girls, Perry was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. She attended McAuley High School and later Miami University. From a young age, her mother told her she should be an attorney “because she loves to argue.” However, she wanted to be a journalist.

Perry earned her degree from Miami and eventually went on to a 14-year seasonal career with the Cincinnati Reds. During that time, Perry also worked for the Cincinnati Enquirer, WLWT TV and 700 WLW Radio. Then an unexpected event changed her direction. Perry was laid off from 700 WLW during the economic downturn of 2009. Pregnant at the time, she tried to find another job, with no luck. At that point, Perry decided to make a change.

Perry always thought she would eventually go to law school. Now was the time! She started in the part-time program at Chase College of Law in 2009 while raising her three daughters – ages 6, 3, and 1 month. A year after starting law school, Perry was offered a part-time job at Channel 12, WKRC in Cincinnati. She thought, why not. Through the last three years of law school, Perry tackled classes while working part-time and raising her family. She graduated in 2013. “Everyone always asked me how I managed to do all of that at once, but I had a great example in my mother. She went to medical school in her late 30s, had baby number 5 while she was in school and is still practicing today. She showed me anything is possible if you put your mind to it.”

After graduation, Perry continued her career in television working from 3:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. while maintaining her legal studies. She spent 10 years as a reporter/anchor at Channel 12 before leaving in 2018 to pursue law full time. Perry joined Maggard Elder Law where she had the opportunity to work directly with clients. A people person, Perry enjoyed working with clients, but knew she wanted to be a litigator. That led her to Murphy Landen Jones PLLC in 2021.

Perry’s girls have grown since law school. Caroline is at Miami University and Grace and Natalie attend Walnut Hills High School. When she isn’t at work, you can find Perry with her family, friends, and dog, Pippa.
