Emily’s Story
Emily is a 7th generation Kentuckian with 15 years experience in the legal services industry in Northern Kentucky. For ten years she has been a practicing attorney in Kentucky serving in many roles. She was a Staff Attorney for Judge Schrand in Boone and Gallatin Circuit Court. She has represented individuals, small businesses, large businesses, nonprofits, and multinational corporations. She has worked in all sectors: private businesses, government and nonprofit. Prior to joining the Gatlin Voelker team, Emily represented employers in Workers’ Compensation Claims. Emily focuses her practice on litigation and Workers’ Compensation.
While Emily was born in Kentucky, she likes to say she was born but not raised. She is proud of her father, who served as an Active Duty Reservist in the US Army before retiring when Emily was in high school. Her family moved back home to Northern Kentucky where she graduated from St. Henry District High School and then went on to Thomas More College (now Thomas More University) majoring in History and International Studies. Following the footsteps of her grandfather, she attended the University of Cincinnati College of Law and graduated in 2009.
Looking to give back to the community and improve the legal profession, Emily is an active member in the Northern Kentucky Bar Association and served on the Board as well as Secretary. She also helped spearhead the NKBA’s #MATCH mentoring program. She has published several articles in the NKBA’s Lex Loci magazine. She is also a Life Fellow of the Kentucky Bar Foundation and serves as a Board of Director since 2017.
Beyond her law practice, Emily lives with her family in Florence, Kentucky. She stays actively involved in her children’s education and serves on the School Advisory Committee at St. Timothy Catholic School in Union, Kentucky. She helps kids learn to be active by coaching St. Tim’s Running Club. A half-marathoner herself, Emily likes to get outside and is always looking for a tennis partner.
